Bound to get 'em done

I'm not sure that my cutting marathon is over, but while I was at it, I thought I might as well cut the binding for these 6 quilts. I bet you never guessed that I was putting that job off. Actually, it might not be a bad idea if I go up in the quilt warehouse and see if there are any more quilts waiting to be bound. I really don't mind doing it and I do it all by machine so as long as my shoulders hold out it shouldn't take long.

Also thought you should know that my books are 50% off at http://www.shopMartingale.com. Actually they have everything on sale all holiday weekend long. What a deal. I suppose that means all the e-books and my e-patterns too.

We had quilting at church today.  One thing we took care of was sorting through our quilts to choose which ones were going to be delivered to which charities.. Guess who will make the delivery to Love, Inc. next week. I also brought another top home to quilt - someday. There was lots of show and tell this morning and when I checked the tub of kits I saw that it was starting to go down. So after Christmas I will plan to put more kits together. Maybe I will get a picture or two before they go.

My quilting is on hold now as I get ready for the holiday. Have a good one.

Convergence quilt

I just had to share. Lily doesn't really cuddle yet, but now at least I can hold her up to 5 minutes at a time before she wants to get down. Behind me you can see what I have been playing with. It's my version of a convergence quilt. I've made one before, where I cut my ugliest quilt top into 4" triangles, added some complementary fabric and sewed it back together randomly. It turned out great, but I didn't keep it or even get a picture. I'll show more details next time.

I should mention that Martingale has published about a dozen of my patterns that you can order individually.
Go to www.shopMartingale.com and click on epatterns and search the quilting category for Bong.

No doubt my quilting skills are getting rusty. I haven't touched my longarm since Feb. I will plan to do a little warm up on some comfort quilts before I get back to doing my own  - some day. It's spring, what can I say?
My garden is mostly cleaned out.
On Easter, Mark and I took a hike in the neighbors woods and came across a coyote den. We think there is another coyote den even closer to our house cause they always sound so loud when they howl with the ambulances going by on the freeway one mile away. The thought of an ambulance being called is sad, but I have to laugh every time I hear the coyotes call with the siren. Call me chicken, but after seeing the den, I don't know that I will be comfortable hiking in the fields and woods around here by myself.

I am going to go do a little sewing now. What a plan!

Hard to find already

The other day I told you how Martingale won't be reprinting Save the Scraps. And today a shop writes to find out where they can get the book for a class cause their usual distributors are out of it.  Grrrr.   Maybe if there is enough interest they will make it available as an e-book to download. Let's hope so. Here are more pics of what's in that book.

I'm in Cincinnati at Quilt Festival and you can bet I'm having a good time. Check back later for details.

Last Chance - Out of Print

Hello World,
I hope you are all doing fine. I'm feeling pretty good tonight as I finish gathering my supplies for Quilt Festival in Cincinnati. I just realized I won't be around to post for a while so thought I'd pop off a few words - like in the title of this post.
I recently received word from Martingale that sales of Save the Scraps do not justify keeping it in stock. That means they will not be reprinting it a 5th time. It also means that if you want a copy, you'd better locate it soon. This was definitely ONE of my favorite books. So glad I don't have to pick one.
I thought I'd show you some pics of the projects in that book.  I never took digital pictures of those quilts I made about 6 years ago and I still haven't. These are pictures of the pictures in the book. Much easier. There are 15 patterns in the book, here's just a few.
Oh, and thank you if you already bought it.

Mixed Feelings

Hello everyone,
Okay, I am so new to this, I don't know where to start. I want to thank everyone for welcoming me to blogland and their nice comments. I'd like to respond to each of you, but I am pinched for time tonight. Boy, can I lie. Really, I don't know how to do it yet except for here. I intend to visit each of your blogs though.

Thank you Wanda for spreading the word. And was it Carol that wondered about my departure from the quilting world for other business? (That was 9 years ago already.) My retirement lasted 2 years. I think I was feeling a bit burned out after self-publishing 3 books and then all the teaching and promoting and shows.... But quilting kept calling me back.

Since then Martingale & Co. published my book Save the Scraps and just recently, Twin Peaks. Isn't it interesting all the twists and turns in life. I am really glad I did those 3 books myself, but am sure glad I am not doing them alone anymore. As we go through different phases of life our priorities change. I could not devote the time to it now. I am happy with Martingale's part in my books and hope to continue with them for a while.

I did get a chance to get back to my other retreat project. Not sure I like it enough to make it much larger. Maybe it needs a pieced border. I will leave this on the design wall a while and think about it.

Tomorrow I am off to Quilt Festival at Rosemont. I hope they have vendors there with longarm supplies. I think I have enough fabric for a while. I need to think about thread for finishing some of my tops. Doesn't that sound like fun? And of course, I have to buy a souvenir book. No, they don't have a show book to buy. I just use it as an excuse to buy another quilt book. Anything that appeals to me. Luv books. I will put my theory on control over fabric shopping to the test, too. It doesn't help that my dh doesn't care.

The comfort quilt I showed on my first blog is almost done. I haven't been able to quilt as usual this week cause dh is off and he always cramps my style. However, he was a real gem this afternoon and helped me in the garden with some huge clumps of perennials. It was finally a nice spring day.

that's all for now, sew long
