Remember when you were a kid and you thought that favorite meant that there could be only "one best, most liked". I remember how glad I was when I discovered you could have more than one favorite in any category. This sampler is my current favorite quilt. And believe it or not after 27 years of quilting it is the only sampler I set out to make. All the other samplers I have made were from orphan blocks I eventually joined together.
The blocks in this sampler all use my Thirtysomething technique. There are a few designers around the country that have discovered my Thirtysomething Square Up tool and have designed quilts for classes using it. That led me to play with the concept more and since then I have come up with another 100 blocks. So I plan to do another Thirtysomething book eventually. Life has a way of throwing you a curve ball sometimes and I have had to postpone those plans. You can try the basic technique and free pattern at my website.
I posted this picture for the Online Quilt Festival. I don't know if I will be able to figure out how to set my options to link correctly. Thank goodness for all the friendly quilters out there that can point me in the right direction.
Excuse the interruption. Sew long.

Love your quilt. Will have to look up your thirty something square up tool.
Sometimes when life throws you a curve ball, and you have to postpone your plans, you can come up with even MORE great ideas in the interim! I can't tell you how many times I've been discouraged that I wasn't able to accomplish something when I had planned, and it wasn't until later that I saw I was better off for having had to wait because of newer opportunities that were better, more insight, or simply having had the chance to step away and come back with a much fresher approach. So hang in there and don't let life's delays sway you too much.
These blocks are all made from one tool?! Amazing! I will have to check out your web site. I love all the blocks in your sampler and can see how it would be a favorite!
I love your quilt! I have made quite a few sampler quilts, but they were for classes I was teaching and therefore not very exciting.
But yours looks amazing. I am going to come back and check out your blog some more tomorrow. I have to learn more about your thirty something tool!
Love your quilt. I am fairly new to the blogging world too. Isn't it fun to be able to meet other quilter/bloggers via this virtual quilt festival! Thanks for sharing about your quilt.
I can't believe how much variety you got from that tool.
My biggest sampler is a KS on one of our beds-whew they are a LOT of work but so lovely. Thanks for showing us this one.
Lovely! My very first quilt was a sampler too, it began as twelve 12" blocks and ended up as a 25 block sampler!
Absolutely beautiful! I love sampler quilts, and your has such variety, but still such a great common theme to the blocks it's very striking. :) Hooray for you!
